Burundi Kayanza Gakenke
The Gakenke coffee station (1675m ASL) in Gatara Commune, Kayanza Province of Burundi. Coffee here was introduced in the 1930s by Catholic monks. Gakenke is named after a plant that grows wild in the area hollow stems, commonly used to drink the local banana beer. During harvest season 1,900 coffee farmers from 22 villages sell their coffee to be processed in Gakenke.
Ethiopia Dry Process Hambela Goro
This coffee is fair trade and farm to gate from Goro Badessa Woreda of Hambela Wamena. Goro coffee beans is grown at 2100 meters and processed in a nearby town at a private mill. This grade-1 lot underwent several layers of hand picking from the whole coffee cherry to the final milled green coffee. I’m drinking this coffee at a medium roasting, City+ to Full City.
